Mohammad I Khokhar

Chairman and Trustee of Executive Committee

 

Mohammad Irshad Khokhar, born in Lahore arrived in

the United Kingdom on Christmas Day 1965 as a

student; he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1970

and has been in public practice as Khokhar & Co.,

Chartered Accountants since 1974. His firm has offices

in London & Dubai. Prior to that, he graduated in

commerce from Punjab University and lectured at the

Government Commercial Institute.

 
During his career, Mr Khokhar has advised on many

high profile tax and property matters including the

Broadgate development and the Kings's Cross

regeneration project.  He also maintains a thriving audit

practice and advises many MNCs on inward

investment into Pakistan.

 

Mr Khokhar is a founding director of the Pakistan

Human Development Fund. He thereafter set about

setting up the charity Pakistan Human Development

Fund UK, a registered UK charity.

 
 

Arshad Mohammad

Director and Trustee of Executive Committee

 

Mr Arshad Mohammad is a prominent philanthropist

and chairman of the Gifto Group of companies based

in London. He truly incorporates the rags to riches story

as he came to England with nothing and is proud to be

considered one of the most influential British Pakistanis

in England.

 

He started trading under the name of Gifto Cash And

Carry in 1968, supplying food items to the Asian

community in England. As the brand awareness

increased he diversified into several other businesses

including property development and investment. He

now heads a very affluent property portfolio and also

runs one of London's most successful Pakistani

restaurants called Gifto's Lahore Karahi in Southall.

 

He is an active member of the PHDF board of directors

in London and a key figure in helping the Pakistani

community in England.

 
 

Dr. Nazar Qureshi

Director and Trustee

 

Dr Nazar Qureshi came to London for his post-

graduate studies. He began his medical career as a

haematologist and later went into General Practice

with the NHS, as well as private practice in Harley

Street and the Cromwell Hospital.

 

Whilst at the Cromwell Hospital, he served on the

Medical Advisory Committee and also held the

position of Chairman for the General Practitioners

Sub-Committee.

 

Currently, as well as maintaining his private practice,

Dr Qureshi is the Medical Advisor to the Pakistan High

Commission in London. He is a founding member of

the charity "Concern For Mental Health" in addition to

being a Trustee and Director of the Pakistan Human

Development Fund UK.

 
 
Waseem Khokhar
Trustee
 

Waseem was educated at Warwick University and

received a B.Eng (Hons) in Computer Systems
Engineering.
 
He is a partner at the London office of the global
law firm DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary. His key areas
of expertise include contentious tax group actions and
corporate tax compliance. He has considerable
experience in EU-based group tax litigation and has
successfully led and worked on landmark cases
against HMRC in various jurisdictions. His diverse
experience, gained both in the UK and overseas,
includes shipping (contentious and non-contentious),
IP/IT (including IT outsourcing) and commercial
contracts.
 
Waseem has developed an international network of
legal contacts having worked for a number of major
international practices. In particular, he retains close
links with the professional and business community in
the United Arab Emirates and has key industry and
government contacts there.

Malcolm Scott

Trustee

 

Malcolm was educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh.

After college he joined the family company, working

his way through all aspects of the grain and storage

business. Malcolm also spent a year in London

learning commodity trading. On his return to Edinburgh,

whilst maintaining the grain side of the business, he

opened new avenues in property and land

development. On his father,s retirement Malcolm

assumed sole control of the grain company.

 

As a visionary entrepreneur he has established

projects such as Goose Bay Village housing

development in Wallyford and The Diamond Shopping

Centre in Coleraine.

 

Malcolm is an established, influential and prominent

player in the UK, being a donor to the Conservative

Party, London and funding the International Democratic

Union chaired by John Howard PM of Australia. His

business venture Fresh Start hosts regular events

raising money for the Scottish Conservative Party

campaigns.

 

He has been appointed Honorary Consulate to

Pakistan in Scotland, and through resulting

responsibilities has had direct contact with the

President of Pakistan, General Mousharaf. He is also

a patron of the Pakistan Human Development Fund.

Michael Lagan

 

Michael Anthony Lagan (Michael) is the Managing

Director and co-shareholder of the Lagan companies,

founded in the 1960s, which are involved primarily in the

production of construction materials, civil and marine

engineering, airport runway construction, house

building and property development.

 

Michael has spent his entire career in the Lagan

companies. Until 1995 his attention was primarily

focused on work throughout the north and south of

Ireland and thereafter he became involved in Lagan's

overseas development.

 

In his present role Michael is responsible for all civil

engineering, piling, quarrying and concrete related

activities in Ireland, together with mainland UK and

overseas.
