Live Fundraising Charity Appeal - Telethon

Sunday 15th October 2006

Pakistan Human Development Fund UK hosted a five hour live telethon to raise funds

for the National Commission for Human Development. The telethon was broadcast

from London by ARY Digital and linked up live to studios in Islamabad where Dr Nasim

Ashraf, Chairman NCHD and Farrokh Captain, Chairman PHDF hosted segments.

The Telethon got under way with appeal messages from Her Excellency Dr Meleeha

Lodhi, Lord Strathclyde, Lord Nazir Ahmed and Lord Tim Clements-Jones.

Cricket legend Khan Mohammad generously donated his Gold Medal to the UK charity

expressing his wish that the charity should use his medal to raise money to fight

illiteracy and disease in Pakistan by auctioning it at a forthcoming event.

Anchored by P J Mir and PHDF UK's Chairman Mohammad Khokhar, a host of

supporters of the charity appeared during the broadcast to pledge their donations and
